About
Commission on Cancer
The Commission on Cancer is a multidisciplinary body that represents 31 national organizations involved in cancer care. The goals of the commission are to decrease the morbidity and mortality of patients with cancer and to improve the quality of cancer care.
There are Cancer Liaison Physicians at 11 Maine hospitals with Cancer Programs approved by the Commission on Cancer. These physicians, most of whom are Fellows of the American College of Surgeons, work with their hospital cancer committees to conduct educational programs such as tumor boards, and to develop and analyze tumor registry data.
